Permanent call for varia papers

Since 2004, the semestrial journal Temporalités –which followed and replaced the Temporalistes bulletin, created in 1984 by William Grossin– aims at bringing together articles, works and other output in humanities and social sciences (history, sociology, demography, economy, anthropology, psychology, linguistics, law…) which include analysis of temporal data and bring together, for examination and comparison, different conceptions, usages, practices of time, or thoughts about the plurality of socio-historical temporalities. It pays special attention to articles including a critical study about the point at which usages of time cease to be valid, and wishes to publish epistemological work as well as works on the history of scientific fields as long as they are rooted in empirical data and based on a strong knowledge of the great anthropological discussions about time. The journal, though it does not intend to be philosophical, may publish articles linking philosophies of time to theoretical discussions about humanities and social sciences.

Temporalités, the journal, is international. It publishes papers relevant to a particular question, answering a widely circulated twice yearly call for papers, as well as scientific articles not relevant to a particular question (varia), responding to a permanent call for papers based on its editorial project, and finally reading notes, “points of view” and news.

Distributed in open access via the OpenEdition platform, indexed in the DOAJ and the AERES list of June 2012, supported and structured by a network of partner laboratories, the journal strives to make sure that the diverstiy of human times is better taken into account and more thoroughly studied – through research itself as well as through the structuring of this specific field within the disciplines at stake. Temporalités encourages all interdisciplinary initiatives around the issues linked to temporalities, especially the most promising: the founding principles and distinctions between times; the articulation and conflicts between temporalities; the confrontation of different conceptions, usages and languages of time; the way disciplines are historicized; the confrontation of philosophical categorization and empirical work…

Interested authors should read the Procedures or the Journal as well as its Instructions to authors and submit their articles by email (.doc or .rtf formats) to the Editorial board: temporalites@revues.org.
